Paint Colour Trends for Inner West Homes in 2025 (with Dulux Picks)

1. Warm Neutrals & Earthy Foundations

Cool greys are quietly slipping out of favour, replaced by warmer, more grounded tones. The Still palette from Dulux, for example, leans into neutrals with brown undertones, soft beiges, and comforting hues.

Some specific Dulux picks to watch:

  • Dulux Clay Pipe — a muted, warm terracotta / clay tone that grounds spaces.

  • Dulux Mellow Beige — soft and cozy, perfect for main walls in living areas.

  • Dulux Studio Cream — a warm, gentle cream that adds softness and warmth.

These tones make excellent base layers—they’re flexible, subtle, and pair beautifully with stronger accents.

2. Deep Greens, Olives & Wine Tones (from the “Recollect” Palette)

If you want something richer, the Recollect palette is your direction. It embraces deeper, nostalgic hues that deliver mood and character.

Standout colours include:

  • Dulux Olive Blend / Zingiber — warm yellow-based greens that feel earthy and expressive.

  • Dulux Plum Sauce — a deep, moody wine tone, elegant and dramatic.

  • Dulux Grapeshot — a rich plum / red-violet, ideal for feature walls or accents.

These colours shine in smaller amounts—door frames, niches, or feature walls.

3. Soft Pastels & Joyful Accents (the “Emerge” Palette)

On the lighter side, Emerge brings pastel, optimistic tones into play. It’s a palette built to lift, subtly.

Some colours from Emerge worth exploring:

  • Warm biscuit yellow / muted lemon tones — cheerful, but gentle.

  • Soft mauves / lilacs — quiet, characterful accents.

  • Terracotta-pink / peachy hues — grounded pastels that pair well with clay & earth tones.

These give rooms personality without overpowering the space.

4. Classic Whites & Crisp Accents

No palette is complete without good white choices. In the Australian context, whites with a touch of warmth or neutrality tend to perform better under strong sunlight.

Some classic Dulux whites to consider:

  • Dulux Natural White™ — a soft, warm white that’s versatile across interiors and exteriors.

  • Dulux Whisper White — gentle and muted, works beautifully with heritage styles and subtle contrasts.

Use these as your “safe” bases—walls, ceilings, trims—then layer in your trending tones.
