• They’re clear and realistic about timelines. If someone promises the world but can’t give you a clear start and finish window—red flag. Good painters know how long things take and they’ll build in proper prep and dry time.

• They care about your client. The best painters know they’re representing you. They’ll clean up after themselves, be polite on site, and do the job right the first time.

• They follow up. A quality painting company doesn’t ghost you after quoting. They’ll check in, confirm scheduling, and be across the other trades.

🚩 Red Flags: When to Run

• Quotes that are too cheap to be true. If someone’s quoting 30% under everyone else, they’re probably cutting corners—or not planning to show up.

• No license or insurance details. Massive red flag. You want painters with full coverage, especially on bigger builds or multi-res projects.

• Lack of references or past work. Can’t show you finished jobs? Can’t name a builder they’ve worked with more than once? Keep looking.
